This $712,628 Project Grant awarded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK, CFDA 93.847 Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research) will fund the development of the SoleSaver System - a sensor-enabled foot-worn garment to monitor and prevent diabetic foot ulcers.

The SoleSaver System continuously tracks pressure, temperature, gait, and peripheral artery disease on the plantar surface, transmitting data wirelessly to a mobile device. The system provides alerts, reminders, and summary reports to patients and clinicians to enable proactive management of foot health and minimize the occurrence and recurrence of diabetic foot ulcers. This Phase I SBIR effort will demonstrate the feasibility and proof-of-concept for the SoleSaver technology through rigorous evaluation on patients with diabetes and healthy controls.
