This Project Grant award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) supports research aimed at advancing the design of bifunctional chelators (BFCs) to improve the in vivo stability and performance of copper-based radiopharmaceuticals. The $398,750 award to Brown University, beginning on February 1, 2025 and running through November 30, 2029, will employ an interdisciplinary approach to develop quantitative structure-function relationships between BFC attributes and radiopharmaceutical properties. This research is expected to resolve longstanding challenges in copper-based radiopharmaceutical development and enable expanded applications in imaging and therapy of human diseases like cancer and heart disease.
