This Project Grant award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) will provide $421,600.00 to The Morgridge Institute For Research, Inc. to conduct research on understanding the interplay of genetic and environmental contributions to human cell fitness.
The key objectives of this 5-year project are to: 1) understand context-dependent genetic contributions to cell growth, 2) examine physiologic nutrient dependencies, and 3) delineate environmental contributions to T cell fitness. The researchers will leverage innovative cell culture and bioreactor technologies they have developed, combined with multi-omics approaches, to gain mechanistic insights into how metabolic conditions influence human cell behavior. This work aims to promote new paradigms for investigating environmental impacts on cell biology and transform the design of human cell models used in biomedical research and therapeutic development.
