The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) awarded a $401,595 project grant (CFDA 93.859 - Biomedical Research and Research Training) to Iowa State University of Science and Technology to investigate the biosynthesis of labdane-related diterpenoid natural products. The funding will support the university's systematic studies to engineer enzymes and metabolic pathways for the production of targeted libraries and specific individual labdane-related diterpenoid compounds, some of which are already in medical use or have utility in crop engineering for improved environmental and human health. The 5-year project period runs from February 1, 2025 to January 31, 2030.
