The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, through its University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) division, was awarded a $247,433 Project Grant under the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Cancer Cause and Prevention Research program (CFDA 93.393) to develop and test the "Parents Helping Parents for Youth Vaping Cessation (PHP-VX)" program. This feasibility study aims to provide a parent-facilitated youth vaping cessation intervention, in partnership with the national advocacy organization Parents Against Vaping E-Cigarettes (PAVE). The study will conduct a pilot test with 100 parent-adolescent dyads, with half receiving the PHP-VX program and the other half in a control group, to explore the program's effectiveness in achieving 7-day point prevalence abstinence from vaping. The project period runs from September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2027. Additionally, Massachusetts General Hospital will serve as a sub-awardee to assist with the research.
