The Henry's Fork Foundation, Inc. was awarded a $2,091,954 Project Grant from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation under the WaterSMART (Sustain and Manage America’s Resources for Tomorrow) federal grant program (CFDA #15.507). The grant will fund the CONANT CREEK CANAL LINING, HEAD GATE REMOTE CONTROL, AND FLOW METERS TO BENEFIT CONANT CREEK SUMMER FLOWS AND ISLAND PARK RESERVOIR CARRYOVER project.

Specifically, the funding will support lining a canal to reduce water loss, installing remote control equipment on head gates for improved flow management, and adding flow meters to measure water usage. These infrastructure upgrades are intended to benefit summer water flows in Conant Creek and carryover storage levels in the nearby Island Park Reservoir. The work will be completed by December 2024. The WaterSMART program aims to stretch water supplies in the Western United States through water efficiency and management projects.
