This federal Project Grant award from the National Institutes of Health's John E. Fogarty International Center (CFDA 93.989 - International Research and Research Training) provides $195,379 to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to develop and pilot test a mobile health-based safety climate intervention program to improve workplace safety and health for workers in Malaysia.
The key products and services to be delivered through this 2-year project include: 1) translating and adapting an established safety climate survey and audit tool for use in Malaysian workforces; 2) developing an mHealth-based safety climate intervention program tailored for Malaysia; and 3) pilot testing and revising the intervention program in Malaysia. The long-term goal is to equip Malaysian organizations with effective strategies to build strong safety cultures and climates, thereby enhancing worker health and safety without relying on outside support. This project aims to address the significant knowledge gap around the impact of safety climate interventions in low- and middle-income countries.
