The University of Kentucky Research Foundation (the Research Foundation) received a Project Grant award of $192,610 from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) under the Cancer Cause and Prevention Research program (CFDA 93.393). The funding will support a study titled "Pathways to Prevention: Exploring Social Determinants of Health in Early Onset Colorectal Cancer", which aims to evaluate the impact of various social determinants of health on early-onset colorectal cancer diagnosis, treatment delays, and survival outcomes, with a focus on underserved populations in Kentucky and Georgia. The research will utilize an epidemiological approach to analyze secondary data over a 2-year project period from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2027. As a non-profit subsidiary of the University of Kentucky, the Research Foundation facilitates the university's participation in federal grants and serves as both a prime and sub-awardee on a range of sponsored research projects.
