The Children's Hospital Corporation, doing business as Boston Children's Hospital, received a 2-year, $194,700 Project Grant from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) under the Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.846). The grant will fund research to characterize the biobehavioral basis of cognitive dysfunction in children with childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE). The study will examine functional brain properties, white matter microstructure, and choroid plexus volume associated with cognitive impairment in cSLE patients compared to healthy controls and children with mood disorders. The research aims to improve recognition and treatment of neuropsychiatric manifestations in cSLE by elucidating the underlying neurobiological mechanisms.
