This federal Project Grant award from the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) under the Nursing Research grant program (CFDA 93.361) provides $778,210 to the University of Pittsburgh to conduct a 2-arm hybrid trial testing the effectiveness of two perinatal intimate partner violence (IPV) interventions. The first intervention, THRIVE, delivers a universal empowerment program during prenatal visits. The second, DOULA THRIVE, combines the universal empowerment program with support from an IPV-trained doula. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of these interventions in reducing IPV, perinatal cannabis use, tobacco use, and depression among participants. The project will also analyze implementation factors and intervention mechanisms to inform future scale-up and dissemination efforts. This research has the potential to transform support for perinatal IPV survivors through enhanced community-clinic connections, ultimately reducing disparities and promoting health equity.
