The National Cancer Institute (NCI) awarded a $647,118 Project Grant (CFDA 93.396 - Cancer Biology Research) to The Regents of the University of Colorado, doing business as the University of Colorado-Denver, to conduct research on the role of the EYA3/PP2A pathway in regulating metastasis in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).
The key objectives of this 5-year research project are to: 1) Determine the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which the EYA3-NF-κB axis enhances TNBC metastasis, and 2) Elucidate the mechanisms by which EYA3 regulates NF-κB signaling and evaluate if this axis can be simultaneously targeted along with the MYC pathway. The goal is to gain a better understanding of how EYA3 promotes TNBC progression by enhancing tumor-promoting, rather than tumor-suppressive, functions of PP2A. This research could lead to novel, less toxic therapeutic approaches to target immune suppression and metastasis in this aggressive form of breast cancer.
