The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) awarded a $249,000 Project Grant under the Oral Diseases and Disorders Research program (CFDA 93.121) to The Children's Hospital Corporation, doing business as Boston Children's Hospital. The 3-year grant, which commenced on Aug 5, 2024, supports research to precisely modulate the dosage of craniofacial transcription factors, like SOX9, in cranial neural crest cells and assess the molecular, cellular, and morphological consequences. The goal is to reveal key drivers of craniofacial morphological variation and disease risk, provide insights into transcriptional regulation, and transform the study of transcription factor function. Boston Children's Hospital, a non-profit pediatric teaching hospital and research center, will conduct this research in collaboration with Stanford University under the mentorship of Drs. Joanna Wysocka and Jonathan Pritchard.
