The University of Wisconsin-Madison received a two-year, $350,000 Project Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities under the Promotion of the Humanities Division of Preservation and Access program (CFDA 45.149).
The grant will support the History of Cartography Project to ensure long-term availability and access to primary cartographic resources. As the largest and longest-running editorial project in the history of cartography, it will preserve and provide intellectual access to map collections held at libraries, archives and museums. The Project will digitize key cartographic materials and make them freely available online through 2023. This work directly aligns with the program's goals of preserving humanities resources and promoting wide public access to special collections.
