The Inter-American Foundation (IAF), through its Assistance for Overseas Programs (CFDA 85.750) federal grant program, awarded $110,000 to Asociacion Santa Rita Del Cusco (SRC) on Sep 5, 2024. The grant supports community-led initiatives to reduce and mitigate the effects of gender-based violence in Cusco, Peru, which has seen a substantial rise in femicides, attempted femicides, and cases of sexual violence affecting female adolescents since 2023. SRC will contribute to combating this issue by offering a comprehensive support system to help women achieve social and economic empowerment for themselves and their children. The grant will also provide training to strengthen the skills of staff at key institutions, such as police stations, shelters, and women's emergency centers, to promote the long-term sustainability of these efforts.
