This $1,500,000 federal Project Grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration under the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program (CFDA 20.513), will fund the development and deployment of an online application to manage mileage and fixed route reimbursement requests for Pennsylvania's statewide Medicaid non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) program. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, will build the new software system to provide consumers the ability to submit reimbursement requests directly online, potentially enabling electronic payments. The project will initially focus on the mileage reimbursement functionality and then expand to fixed route reimbursements, with the goal of standardizing reimbursement processes across the state to improve program compliance, reduce fraud/waste/abuse, and enhance the user experience for NEMT consumers. The grant award is effective from July 2024 through September 2025.
