The Arizona State University Roybal Center for Older Adults Living Alone with Cognitive Decline was awarded a $1,177,500 Project Grant under the National Institute on Aging's Aging Research program (CFDA 93.866) with an award date of August 15, 2024. The primary objective of this 5-year grant is to develop infrastructure and conduct clinical trials of technology-enabled behavioral and lifestyle interventions to delay Alzheimer's disease and improve quality of life for older adults living alone with cognitive decline, particularly among minority populations. The research will focus on targeting mechanisms of behavior change, such as stress and social support, to improve proximal outcomes like cognition and emotional wellbeing, as well as long-term prevention of Alzheimer's disease. The award will fund the administration of the Roybal Center, a Behavioral Intervention Development Core to support 12 trials, and the delivery of innovative technology-based interventions for this underserved population.
