APPLICATION PURPOSE: THE TRANSPORTATION NEEDS OF THE OTOE-MISSOURIA TRIBAL COMMUNITY ARE EXACERBATED BY AN UNDERDEVELOPED SYSTEM OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION BECAUSE OF THE RURAL AREA THE TRIBAL HEADQUARTERS IS LOCATED. THE TRIBE HAS DEVELOPED A TRANSIT PLAN THAT HAS BEEN AWARDED SHOWING THE DETAILED NEED FOR A TRANSIT SYSTEM TO THE TRIBAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT LIVE WITHIN A 25 MILE RADIUS OF THE HEADQUARTERS IN RED ROCK OK. THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE TRANSIT PROGRAM WILL HELP GIVE ACCESS TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AND ACCESS TO CONSUMER SERVICES TO HELP BENEFIT TRIBAL MEMBERS THAT LACK TO TRANSPORTATION NEEDS. TRIBAL MEMBERS ARE ISOLATED AND HAVE NO ACCESS TO FORMAL PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES. THE TRANSIT SYSTEM WILL ALLOW FOR EXPANSIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE TRIBE AND CONSUMER REVENUE FOR OPERATIONS.; ACTIVITIES PERFORMED: THE OTOE-MISSOURIA TRANSIT PROGRAM WILL CONDUCT NEEDS ASSESSMENTS RELATED TO ON-DEMAND MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AND ON-DEMAND TRANSPORTATION RELATED TO EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT TRIBAL BUSINESSES WITHIN A FOUR COUNTY AREA. IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS THE TRIBE WILL HIRE FULL-TIME PERSONNEL TO COORDINATED THE TRANSIT SERVICES FOR TRIBAL MEMBERS AND ADDITIONAL PART-TIME PERSONNEL TO ACT AS DRIVERS IN SUPPORT OF THE ENTIRE TRANSIT PROGRAM. ONCE PERSONNEL HAVE BEEN HIRED THE TRIBE WILL EXPAND ITS TRANSIT SYSTEM BY OFFERING VARIABLE ROUTE SERVICES. EXPANDED SERVICES ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN JANUARY 2024.; EXPECTED OUTCOMES: THE OTOE-MISSOURIA TRIBE CONDUCTED COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND MET WITH LOCAL TRIBAL AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ASK THEIR TRANSPORTATION NEEDS. THE CONSENSUS WAS THE TRIBE NEEDS TO PROVIDE A TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO USE FOR MEDIAL APPOINTMENTS EMPLOYMENT AND LOCAL GROCERY SHOPPING 25 MILES AWAY. THE TRANSIT SYSTEM WILL HELP THE COMMUNITY NEEDS THAT WILL SUPPORT THE TRANSIT PLAN ALONG WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY INCLUDING ALL THE POLICES AND PROCEDURES THAT WILL HELP EXPAND THE TRANSIT SYSTEM FOR MORE ACCOMMODATING ROUTES AND SERVICES OTHER TRIBAL MEMBERS NOT ENROLLED IN THE OTOE-MISSOURIA TRIBE BUT LIVE IN THE FOUR COUNTY AREA.; INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: THE OTOE-MISSOURIA TRIBAL TRANSIT PROGRAM WILL BENEFIT TO TRIBAL MEMBERS ELDERS AND EMPLOYEES NEEDING TRANSPORTATION TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AND ACCESS TO CONSUMER SERVICES (GROCERY SHOPPING BANKS MECHANICS ETC.) FOR BETTER LIFE STYLES. IN THE FUTURE THE OTOE-MISSOURIA TRIBE PLANS TO EXPAND THE TRANSIT SERVICES TO OUTSIDE NON-TRIBAL MEMBERS AND OTHER RELATIVE TRIBAL MEMBERS FOR BETTER ACCESS IN THE FOUR COUNTY AREA THAT IS IN A RURAL LOCATION.; SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES: NONE
