The Ramsey County Opioid Prevention and Unified Services (OPUS) Coalition was awarded a $125,000 Project Grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control under the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program (CFDA 93.276). The grant funding will enable OPUS to implement evidence-based strategies to address youth access to substances, youth beliefs and attitudes towards substance use, and to promote protective factors in the Ramsey County community. Key initiatives include strengthening youth engagement through a Youth Advisory Council, launching a positive community norms marketing campaign, providing training for coalition members, and continuing prevention education efforts in local schools. The grant award period runs from September 30, 2024 to September 29, 2029, with the goal of reducing substance use rates, particularly for alcohol, marijuana, and prescription drugs, among 6th-12th grade students in Ramsey County, with a focus on populations at higher risk.
