IRON COUNTY HEALTH COALITION DRUG FREE COMMUNITIES PROJECT - THE MISSION STATEMENT OF IRON COUNTY HEALTH COALITION IS "BY WORKING TOGETHER WITH ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY, THE IRON COUNTY HEALTH COALITION IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES TO ESTABLISH AWARENESS OF THE NEED FOR PREVENTION, INTERVENTION AND TREATMENT OF SUBSTANCE MISUSE, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH." IRON COUNTY HEALTH COALITION WILL WORK TO REDUCE YOUTH ALCOHOL AND NICOTINE USE AND OVER TIME REDUCE ADULT ALCOHOL AND NICOTINE ABUSE IN IRON COUNTY, MISSOURI. THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR THIS PROJECT WILL BE YOUTH AND ADULTS IN ALL MUNICIPALITIES AND UNICORPORATED AREAS IN IRON COUNTY. OBJECTIVES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROJECT ARE TO 1) STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF THE COALITION, 2) DEVELOP COALITION ACTION COMMITTEES, 3) INCREASE YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN THE COALITION, 4) STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF THE COALITION TO MAKE COMMUNITY-LEVEL CHANGE, 5) DELIVER EVIDENCE-BASED EDUCATION TO YOUTH AND FAMILIES, 6) DELIVER RESPONSIBLE VENDOR TRAINING TO ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO MERCHANTS, AND 7) IMPLEMENT COMMUNITY AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS. ACTIVITIES WILL BE EVALUATED, INFORMING THE COALITION OF CHANGES AND ADJUSTMENTS THAT ARE NECESSARY TO CONTINUE REACHING THE GOALS OF THE COALITION AND THE DFC GOALS TO INCREASE COMMUNITY COLLABORATION AND REDUCE YOUTH SUBSTANCE USE.
