This federal Project Grant award, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (CFDA 14.276), aims to support the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (MD DHCD) in developing and implementing a coordinated community approach to preventing and ending youth homelessness. The $2,000,000.00 award, effective January 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027, will enable MD DHCD to undertake a range of eligible activities, including acquisition of real property, rehabilitation of structures, new construction, leasing, rental assistance, supportive services, and operating costs of supportive housing. The program targets unaccompanied and pregnant or parenting youth aged 24 and younger experiencing homelessness, with the goal of significantly decreasing youth homelessness, increasing participants' income, education, health, and social/emotional well-being, and establishing new or improved partnerships between youth-serving organizations in the community.
