The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, in partnership with the Illinois State Board of Education, received a $501,131 Project Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the Museums for America (CFDA 45.301) program. The grant will support the fabrication and installation of an interactive, hands-on exhibit called "Citizen City" for children ages 3-9. The exhibit will explore themes related to citizenship, youth agency and voice, rights and responsibilities of citizens, and community engagement. Key project activities include developing prototypes, testing with the target audience, preparing the gallery space, and fabricating and installing the final exhibit components. The museum's education staff will also create curriculum and a website to share educational resources. The goal is to encourage youth to learn about civic participation and the impact individuals can have in their communities, the nation, and the world.
