The Denver Art Museum received a $395,283 project grant award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to implement critical environmental improvements in its storage area. Funded under the Museums for America program (CFDA 45.301), the 13-month project will install 40 new storage screens for oversized, two-dimensional artworks impacting the museum's Asian, Indigenous, Latin American, Modern and Contemporary, and Photography collections. Work will include pre-move inventory tasks, preparing artworks for screen storage, rehousing artworks on the new screens, creating new location systems for the improved storage area, and post-move inventories. The storage improvements will enhance public access to artworks and support research, while increasing onsite storage capacity, collection efficiency, and accommodating strategic acquisition priorities. Completed by September 2022, the project concludes a year-long museum-wide storage improvement effort.
