The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) was awarded a $25,046,760 Project Grant from the Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under the Federal Transit Formula Grants program (CFDA 20.507). The grant funding will support a variety of transportation projects to address the condition of TARC's significant assets, such as: replacing aging buses, upgrading operational software, enhancing facility security and infrastructure, and purchasing 6 new long-range battery electric buses. The grant will also fund TARC's paratransit services and facility improvements to the bus operator training and vehicle repair centers. As a result, the condition of TARC's fixed route fleet will improve, dispatching and passenger information capabilities will be enhanced, and key facilities will become more efficient. The projects funded by this grant are expected to benefit TARC's customers, employees, and the broader community.
