The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) awarded a $191,195 Project Grant (CFDA 93.847 - Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research) to the University of Pittsburgh. The grant, titled "LONGITUDINAL AND MOMENTARY ASSOCIATIONS UNDERLYING THE RELATION OF FOOD INSECURITY AND GESTATIONAL WEIGHT GAIN: TOWARD OBESITY RISK PREVENTION", will support a study to identify psychosocial and behavioral pathways through which food insecurity predicts higher gestational weight gain and postpartum weight retention. The project aims to develop expertise in assessing perinatal weight-related factors, gain experience in community-partnered health equity research, and attain skills to conduct and analyze ecological momentary assessment studies and longitudinal data. The award date is June 1, 2024, with a planned completion date of February 28, 2029.
