The North Kitsap School District was awarded a $750,000 Project Grant from the Department of Defense Education Activity under the Competitive Grants: Promoting K-12 Student Achievement at Military-Connected Schools program (CFDA 12.556).
The grant will support the District's efforts to prepare students for careers in STEAM and health science pathways with a focus on the needs of military-connected students through May 2026. Specifically, the District will equip students with cognitive strategies, skills and outlooks leading to postsecondary success and careers in high-demand STEAM and health science fields. This builds on prior DoDEA grants focused on science content knowledge. Given the top five industries in Kitsap County involve STEAM, the District will also develop STEAM and health sciences career pathways offering multiple access points to the STEAM curriculum with an emphasis on health sciences. The place of performance is Poulsbo, Washington.
