The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded a $600,000 Project Grant (CFDA 93.224 - Community Health Centers) to the Central City Community Health Center, Inc. to expand patient access to behavioral health services, including mental health and substance use disorder treatment. The health center will utilize HRSA's Roadmap for Behavioral Health Integration to guide program expansion and ensure providers have the necessary resources and tools to address patient needs. The project will focus on reducing stigma and discrimination, providing comprehensive care to address physical, mental, and social risk factors, and increasing the role of providers in medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder. The target population includes the underserved and high-risk patients within the service area, which has a total population of over 5.12 million residents - 39.6% of whom live below 200% of the federal poverty level. The grant will fund an increase in behavioral health specialists and workforce to expand access to mental health and substance use services across the health center's network of delivery sites.
