This federal Project Grant award from the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Community Health Centers program (CFDA 93.224) provides $600,000 to the Cahaba Medical Care Foundation, a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center, to expand behavioral health services in underserved areas of Alabama. The funding will support the addition of 4 full-time licensed clinical social workers, 2 behavioral health consultants, and 1 administrative assistant to bolster the organization's mental health and substance use disorder treatment capacity. Additionally, the grant will enable Cahaba Medical Care to acquire and deploy a mobile health unit to deliver essential healthcare services directly to rural and resource-poor communities in the Alabama Black Belt region, thereby improving access and addressing behavioral health disparities. This two-year project aims to enhance integrated care and expand the reach of Cahaba Medical Care's comprehensive services, which include primary care, preventive services, dental care, and enabling support to vulnerable populations across six counties in central Alabama.
