This $600,000 Project Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under the Community Health Centers program (CFDA 93.224) will enable Universal Community Health Center, a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Los Angeles, to expand access to behavioral health services, including mental health and substance use disorder treatment, for low-income, uninsured adults and children.
The funding will allow Universal Community Health Center to start providing behavioral health services at an additional site and expand access to these services across all of its seven fixed health center locations and two mobile clinics. The grant will support hiring and training of behavioral health staff, as well as upgrades to the organization's electronic health records system to accommodate the expanded services. This effort aims to address critical gaps in access to mental health and substance use treatment for the underserved communities in South, Southeast, Southwest, and East Los Angeles served by Universal Community Health Center.
