The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded a $600,000 Behavioral Health Service Expansion Project Grant to Harbor Community Health Centers (DBA Harbor Community Clinic) under the Community Health Centers program (CFDA 93.224). This funding will allow the non-profit community health center to expand its behavioral health care program, including mental health and substance use disorder services, at its facilities in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, California. The project aims to increase access to behavioral health treatment and support services for the organization's low-income, predominantly Latinx patient population, who face barriers such as language, stigma, and lack of affordable options. The grant will support staffing for a multidisciplinary care team, including licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and case managers, to provide individualized, culturally-affirming, and trauma-informed care. The award period is from September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2026.
