The Maine Mobile Health Program (MMHP), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, received a $600,000 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under the Community Health Centers program (CFDA 93.224). The grant, awarded on September 1, 2024, will be used to:
Increase the number of patients receiving mental health services from 133 in 2023 to 200 in 2025 by expanding provider capacity through telehealth and in-person care, as well as increasing outreach via a second behavioral health van.
Conduct a rapid needs assessment to identify reasons why patients have not sought substance use disorder (SUD) and medication-assisted treatment (MOUD) services, and use the results to launch a SUD/MOUD program in the second half of the first project year and second year.
Increase the number of patients receiving SUD services to 25, including 15 patients receiving MOUD treatment, through partnerships, referrals, and staff training.
The project aims to provide culturally appropriate, patient-centered care to the underserved and vulnerable agricultural worker population in Maine, the majority of whom are racial and ethnic minorities and communicate primarily in languages other than English.
