The University of Oklahoma, operating through its Office of Research Administration, was awarded a $724,073 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services under the Special Education - Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities program (CFDA 84.325). The grant, titled "ELEVATE: EQUIPPING LEARNING, EMPOWERING VISION, ACHIEVING TRANSITIONS, AND ENGAGING FAMILIES A DOCTORAL LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE", will establish a consortium with five other universities to train approximately 20 doctoral scholars focused on secondary transition services and improving post-school outcomes for youth with disabilities, particularly those from diverse communities. The consortium will provide the scholars with doctoral degrees (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) and prepare them to serve as educational leaders and faculty in higher education, as well as administrators at the state, district and local levels. The project period runs from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025. The University of Oklahoma will collaborate with the University of Connecticut, Sam Houston State University, the University of Arkansas, The Ohio State University, and the University of Kansas on the various training, mentoring, and research activities encompassed by this grant.
