The Pascua Yaqui Tribe was awarded a $2,500,000 five-year Project Grant (Award ID: H1H5IHS0039) from the Department of Health and Human Services Indian Health Service under the Demonstration Projects for Indian Health (CFDA 93.933) program. The grant will fund the Pascua Yaqui Tribe Community Opioid Intervention Prevention Program, which aims to address the opioid crisis within the tribal community through culturally appropriate prevention, treatment, recovery, and aftercare services. Key objectives include increasing public awareness, strengthening family support, expanding access to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and enhancing harm reduction activities. The project will deliver education campaigns, community/professional workshops, and targeted interventions for high-risk populations such as homeless youth, young parents, and LGBTQ+ youth. By leveraging its existing behavioral health infrastructure, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe seeks to establish comprehensive care models that meet the unique needs of its tribal members.
