The High Desert Museum received a $500,000 Project Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Promotion of the Humanities Public Programs (CFDA 45.164) to create a new permanent exhibition on the Indigenous Plateau. The grant will fund the $400,000 reinstallation of the Museum's 4,500 square foot permanent exhibition and a $100,000 two-year position in the humanities. The exhibition will highlight Plateau philosophy, lifeways, cultures, histories, and knowledge through immersive experiences, observation, and storytelling developed in collaboration with Native knowledge holders and humanities advisors. This project aims to transform how visitors understand the world around them by presenting an innovative, community-centered interpretation of the Indigenous Plateau.
