This $7,296,135 federal Project Grant awarded on August 16, 2024 by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under the Public Transportation Emergency Relief Program (CFDA 20.527) will fund emergency operations, protective measures, and repairs necessary to restore the Central Florida Rail Corridor (CFRC) operated by SunRail after damage from Hurricane Ian. The grant will cover capital expenditures for Alstom Mass Transit Corp ($373,094), Bombardier Mass Transit Corp ($121,572), and Kiewit Infrastructure South ($2,683,519) to perform tasks such as supplying and installing sub-ballast and ballast, reconstructing railway and roadway, constructing new track, and repairing drainage, canals, and roadside slopes. Operating expenditures will also be provided to Alstom ($228,698) and Herzog ($194,196) for inspections, repairs, debris removal, and signal system restoration. This funding will allow SunRail to reinstate normal operations after the hurricane damage.
