The Region 8 Planning and Development Council was awarded a $1,050,000 Project Grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration to develop and implement a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Mineral, and Pendleton counties in West Virginia. Under the Economic Development Support for Planning Organizations program (CFDA 11.302), the Council will create a regional economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the economy across the five-county area. As part of EDA's Planning program, the grant will support the Council in stimulating and guiding local economic development efforts through the collaborative CEDS process involving public and private sector stakeholders. The three-year award period will allow for development and adoption of the CEDS to revitalize the regional economy by April 2025.
