This $2.4 million project grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration's BUILD TO SCALE program will fund the Coastal Empire Regional Ecosystem Strategy (CERES) project delivered by Georgia Southern University Research & Service Foundation Inc. CERES aims to strengthen regional business outreach and development programs to better serve underserved businesses in the Coastal Empire region of Georgia. Through activities focused on discovery, ideation, incubation and cultivation, CERES will provide at least 250 potential entrepreneurs with services, with the goal of 120 launching new or expanding existing businesses by 2025. These businesses are expected to create 120 jobs. In addition, the project seeks to increase private investment, commercialization, and revenue for underserved businesses in the region by improving access to procurement opportunities, market data and networking. By leveraging existing partnerships and assets, CERES will help marginalized groups access regional entrepreneurial support resources to participate in and benefit from growing economic opportunities.
