The Southeastern New Mexico Economic Development District Inc. was awarded $350,000 under the Economic Development Support for Planning Organizations program by the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration to develop and implement a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for Chaves, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln, and Otero counties in New Mexico. Through this Jan. 1, 2022 project grant concluding Dec. 28, 2024, the District will lead a collaborative public-private sector process to create an economic roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy in southeastern New Mexico. The CEDS development process will bring together stakeholders across the five-county area to establish strategies, projects, and actions to generate new business and industry in the region through Dec. 2024.
