The Northwest Michigan Council of Governments was awarded a $420,000 project grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration under the Economic Development Support for Planning Organizations program (CFDA 11.302). The grant will support the Council's provision of economic development planning services to the Traverse City, Michigan region from July 2021 through June 2024.
As the recipient of EDA funding, the Council will create a regional economic development plan to guide and stimulate the economic development efforts of Northwest Michigan. The Planning program aims to provide assistance to eligible recipients for this purpose. The Council will leverage its expertise through the Networks Northwest division to conduct planning and deliver technical assistance to stakeholders. The award will allow the Council to carry out its mission of serving the ten-county region in and around Traverse City.
