The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (Penn Museum) received a $750,000 Project Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Promotion of the Humanities Challenge Grants program to renovate the museum's historic Egyptian Wing. The renovations will upgrade the 19,000 square feet of gallery and collections storage space to create bright, updated exhibit spaces, install air conditioning, and expand access to the museum's world-renowned Egypt and Nubia collection for students and researchers. This federal funding will support the museum's efforts to better engage public audiences with these remarkable ancient artifacts through a comprehensive facilities upgrade project. The grant was awarded on May 1, 2024, with a target completion date of April 30, 2025.
