This Project Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities will support the development of the Historical Trauma and Transformation (H2T) minor at the University of Tulsa. The $149,956 award will fund the creation and delivery of the H2T minor from February 1, 2023 through January 31, 2025.

The H2T minor will use place-based learning to cultivate student understanding of history through exploring how collective trauma has shaped societies and institutions. Courses will examine contemporary issues in the context of historical roots like racism, colonization, forced migration and genocide. Students will apply trauma theory to address current problems. The University of Tulsa will develop hands-on, experiential learning opportunities through archival research, museum visits, and historic site excursions. Funded under the Promotion of the Humanities Teaching and Learning Resources and Curriculum Development program, this award will enhance the study of humanities by creating a new interdisciplinary minor and resources for students.
