The Chickaloon Village Traditional Council (CVTC) will receive $332,600 from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs Central Office under the Indian Economic Development federal grant program (CFDA 15.032) to support the Ahtna Cedahwdediixen (Instructor) Development Project. Through this Project Grant award made on June 29, 2022, CVTC will work with Ahtna language elders and culture bearers to create over 100 new Ahtna language recordings and produce an immersion instructional guide. These materials will be used to enhance the existing curriculum and teaching methods at the Ya Ne Dah Ah School, an Ahtna language immersion program, and will also be shared with other tribal language programs and partners. By strengthening Ahtna language preservation efforts, this project aims to help develop the economic self-sufficiency of the Chickaloon Native Village and support the Indian Economic Development federal grant program's goal.
