This $500,000 federal Project Grant awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving (EJCPS) Cooperative Agreement Program (CFDA 66.306) provides funding to the Environmental Health Coalition (EHC) to address environmental injustice in the Barrio Logan and Logan Heights neighborhoods of San Diego, California. The project aims to reinvigorate the Logan community by collaborating with local stakeholders to identify and advance climate solutions, including tree canopy and green infrastructure development, transit access and mobility enhancements, home weatherization and solarization, and solar-powered community microgrids. EHC will work with three sub-awardees - the Logan Heights Community Development Corporation, the University of San Diego, and a yet-to-be-identified partner - to support community engagement, build organizational capacity, and implement the planned environmental justice and climate resilience initiatives in the target neighborhoods. The grant period extends from the preaward start date of November 1, 2024 through the ultimate completion date of October 31, 2026.
