The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded a $158,971 Source Reduction Assistance (CFDA 66.717) project grant to Kansas State University (KSU) to provide technical assistance and workforce training to up to 60 businesses in the Wichita, Kansas metro area. The goal is to help these businesses, which use painting and coating processes, develop and adopt pollution prevention practices to reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) and toxic air emissions. KSU will also hold community forums in the impacted areas to raise awareness and engage residents, businesses, and workers on efforts to mitigate local air toxics issues.
