The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribe received a $179,695 Project Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 under the State and Tribal Response Program Grants (CFDA 66.817) to continue building elements of an effective tribal response program and assist in remediating, redeveloping, and reusing potentially hazardous and contaminated brownfield sites throughout the Leech Lake Reservation. Funding will also support expanding public education and outreach of the Tribe's response program to small and disadvantaged communities within the Reservation. Key deliverables include assessing and cleaning up brownfield sites, performing community outreach and education activities, and continuing to enhance the Tribe's response program in a cost-effective manner.
