The University of New Mexico received a $3,000,000 Project Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency Office for Water - Funding Office under the Clean Water Act Section 104(b)(8) "Technical Assistance for Treatment Works" program (CFDA 66.446). The grant will fund the Environmental Finance Center Network (EFCN) team to provide training and technical assistance across all 50 U.S. states, 5 territories, and tribal communities on topics such as decentralized wastewater systems, operations and maintenance, and financial/technical/managerial areas of wastewater treatment. The EFCN team includes multiple university-based Environmental Finance Centers, as well as partners such as Moonshot Missions, Mississippi State University, and Morgan State University. Key deliverables include at least one training activity in every state and territory, up to 10 trainings focused on tribal wastewater systems, and 10 national webinars. The grant aims to build the capacity of rural, small, and tribal wastewater systems to improve technical, managerial, and financial operations.
