The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a 24-month $8,993,500 Project Grant to UNICEF's Program and Policy Division to provide ready-to-use therapeutic foods (RUTF) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) under the Food for Peace Emergency Program (CFDA 98.008). This grant, effective May 2024 through May 2026, will support the transportation, delivery, and distribution of specialized, shelf-stable food commodities such as RUTF to prevent hunger and malnutrition among vulnerable populations in the DRC, including children, pregnant and lactating women, refugees, and internally displaced persons. The Food for Peace Emergency Program focuses on improving access, availability, and utilization of food in food-insecure environments abroad, with a priority on addressing hunger and malnutrition through emergency food assistance efforts.
