The International Organization for Migration (IOM) received a $5 million Project Grant award from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide emergency shelter and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs in Burundi for populations affected by flooding. The period of performance for this award is from August 20, 2021 through August 31, 2023.
The USAID award is being administered under the agency's Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas (CFDA #98.001) program. This program aims to support long-term economic growth and further US foreign policy goals through initiatives focused on economic development, global health, agriculture and humanitarian assistance. IOM will utilize the funding to directly deliver emergency shelter and WASH services for communities in Burundi impacted by flooding during the award period.
