This National Science Foundation (NSF) Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) federal grant award of $293,668, made on April 15, 2025, supports a project to expand access to artificial intelligence (AI) education at community colleges. The project, led by Bluegrass Community and Technical College in collaboration with the Computing Research Association, El Paso Community College, and Northeastern University, aims to: 1) facilitate increased AI instructional capacity and develop a sustainable community of practice among community college faculty; 2) establish best practices for AI education at these institutions; 3) improve faculty confidence in utilizing National AI Research Resource (NAIRR) pilot resources for AI instruction; and 4) develop strategies for integrating AI content into undergraduate courses. The project involves virtual roundtable discussions and an in-person workshop to achieve these goals, culminating in a publicly available report outlining best practices, example implementations, and recommendations for leveraging NAIRR pilot resources in AI education.
