This $201,326 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) STEM Education (CFDA 47.076) program aims to increase opportunities for success for STEM students at two Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) in central Florida. The key products and services to be delivered under this 4-year project include:
Developing and implementing flexible, accessible assessments in five large introductory STEM courses using generative AI technology to provide features like flexible testing time, multiple attempts, and resource sharing across instructors and institutions.
Building a multi-institution instructor community to enhance technology and AI literacy, and collaboratively develop assessment and learning resources to transform the targeted STEM courses.
Enhancing students' sense of belonging and motivation by engaging them in collaborative teams to create contextually relevant instructional materials assisted by AI.
Analyzing learning analytics data to identify transfer students' self-regulated learning strategies before and after transferring between the two participating HSIs.
This project seeks to generate new knowledge on effective approaches for transforming STEM gateway courses at HSIs through innovative technologies and instructional practices, with the goal of improving student outcomes.
