The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded Chapman University a $299,832 Project Grant under the Office of International Science and Engineering (OISE) program (CFDA 47.079) to provide 10-week international research experiences for undergraduate students from Chapman and the surrounding Southern California region. Through a collaboration with Stockholm University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, the grant supports students performing research in heterogeneous catalysis, which is critical for addressing global challenges like climate change, food production, clean energy, and pollution control. Student scholars will gain experience using sophisticated research techniques and instruments, conduct collaborative research projects, analyze data, and engage in international cultural exchange. This program aims to increase awareness of new research fields, train the next generation of international researchers, enhance participation of underrepresented students in STEM, and develop the skills needed to be effective scientific researchers addressing global issues.
